Techno Primitivism, Issue 02
2025
Styled as a pseudoscientific journal, Techno Primitivism examines manifestations of the ancient as they are mediated through contemporary technology.
Issue 02 concentrates on false archaeologies, namely the case of Burrows Cave, a purported site of ancient artifacts discovered by an Illinois prison guard in the 1980s. Featuring thousands of stone carvings and inscribed tablets, Burrows Cave provokes numerous questions about its creator’s agenda—is it an elaborate ruse catered towards the collecting market, an attempt at historical revisionism, or the prolific work of an outsider artist? Issue 02: False Archaeologies weighs the merit of investigating pseudo artifacts and the conspiracies that encircle them as a means of revealing latent cultural fears and ideologies.
