A History of Human Intervention:
Ancient & Modern
Photographic Portfolio
In Collaboration with Brandon Bandy
2023-PresentA History of Human Intervention: Ancient & Modern is a photographic survey of sites that foreground human imposition throughout natural and constructed landscapes. Charting a throughline between museological display, human mark-making in the landscape, and the ambient presence of natural resource extraction, A History of Human Intervention looks to sites where the belief systems that shape history become evident.
Expansive in nature, these locations include man-made labyrinths, vernacular public art, oil infrastructure, archaeological sites, and modernist museum displays, among others. Throughout the ongoing photographic project, Bandy and Jackson take note of how latent human ideologies manipulate interpretation in an effort to investigate how constructed environments are often presented as neutral or objective truths.
